  1. Gareth Russell Says:

I’d agree with the first quote certainly. It seems that most egalitarian arguments make appeals outside of scripture, usually along the lines of, “God wouldn’t want to discriminate would he?”

    *Yawn*

  2. Tim Suffield Says:

Somehow I thought you would. In fact, I thought of you when he said it! The 2nd quote is a direct appeal to the fact that men and women are made in the image of God, which is the unique privilege of the human in all of creation - including the angels, apparently.

  3. Tim Suffield Says:

Actually that’s interesting. “Would God discriminate?” On one hand, we’re all one in Christ Jesus, one the other, we’re not all IN Christ Jesus. Is election not just discrimination, albeit a positive one? Food for thought, mayhaps.

  4. dave Says:

I suppose in election God doesn’t descriminate on the basis of anything in US, not our race, heritage, desires, efforts, works etc…. but based on his passion for his own glory… (following the arguments in Romans 9)

  5. Tim Suffield Says:

Yeah, good point. I was just thinking of it in terms of some being chosen and others not. I’m not really sure if it actually makes sense to claim that “God discriminates on the basis of his passion for his own glory” - may drop this line of thought!
